The Hurricane Wind Generator

Our wind generator reaches charging voltage at lower RPM
than any other PMA's. Whether
you have a 12, 24, or 48 volt system over time our wind generator will output more power into your system at lower RPM
and wind speed.

Reaches 12 volts @

Cat 3 Wind Generator 120 RPM
Cat 4 Wind Generator 80 RPM
Cat 5 Wind Generator 40 RPM

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your interest in Hurricane Wind Power Products.

Please carefully read the instructions below before installing your new generator! If you need help, please call before you install this product.

1- This generator produces high voltage. Observe all safety precautions and grounding codes.

2- Do not open the generator or make modifications to it. This will void the warranty.

3- Generator parts including stator, rotor and bearings have very tight tolerances. Please allow a TWO WEEK IN SERVICE break-in period. It is normal to feel some resistance when turning the generator shaft with your hand.

4- Generator is equipped with two 3 prong power outlets, which produce 3 phase A/C current. After the generator has been installed, plug each lead into a good quality extension cord (not less than 16 AWG) and run the cords to your battery bank. Once there, strip the three wires in each extension cord (black, white and green). Install these wires on the 3 leads of the rectifier screw terminals using the crimp fittings. It does not matter which terminal you place the 3 wires on. NEVER connect the two separate leads coming from the generator to the same power source. IT WILL DAMAGE THE GENERATOR. EACH lead coming from the generator must be connected to its own respective A/C D/C rectifier first. Next, connect a field supplied wire from the positive side of the rectifier to your battery. Connect a field supplied wire from the negative side of the rectifier to your battery. You may wire the generator in series to double the voltage, or parallel to double the current. If you need wiring assistance, please call.

5- To protect the generator from damage, please install a 10 to 15 amp fuse in the line or load wire between your rectifier and battery bank. WARNING! Generators which have been damaged by over-current will not be warranted.

6- Also recommended is a charge controller which protects your batteries from “over-charging”. If using a charge controller, refer to manufacturers wiring instructions.

7- Never connect your generator directly to a battery without first installing the A/C D/C rectifier.

8- Do not connect the generator directly to the grid. The A/C D/C rectifier does not “grid enable” the generator.

9- Special care must be taken when handling magnets. Hurricane Wind Power Products contain extremely powerful Neodymium magnets. Avoid close contact with televisions, computers and electronics which are sensitive to strong magnetic fields. When handling a magnetic rotor, do not get it close to metal. The magnet will instantly attract the metal and smash your hand or fingers. WARNING: Children should never handle magnets under any circumstances!

DISCLAIMER:
If you are installing a windmill including windmill blades: It is the sole responsibility of the installer to properly tighten all fittings and protect them from the elements. All exposed nuts, bolts and metal surfaces should be painted to prevent corrosion and failure. WARNING! Installing and experimenting with windmill blades can be very dangerous. Blades spin at high velocities and serious injury is possible. Do not allow children to wander into your testing area! IT IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER TO SAFELY INSTALL AND MAINTAIN THIS PRODUCT. HURRICANE WIND POWER WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES WHICH RESULT FROM ANY USE, MISUSE, NEGLECT OR ACTS OF GOD OR NATURE.

Electronics are not toys and not for the inexperienced. Failure to hook up any of these products properly can result in serious injury fire or death. While we do sell to the do-it-yourselfer it is the buyers responsibility to research local code pertaining to wind generators, policies of local utility companies and ensure all certifications and standards are upheld for the installation. Wind Turbine Technologies LLC of Virginia does not give advice pertaining to compatibility with local statute and utility company regulations. If you are unsure what certifications a particular product has or does not please ask. Further we do not advise anyone mount wind turbines on your homes, electronics with moving parts always has the potential to start fires. In our view this risk is best offset by purchasing a tower to mount your wind generator.
