Maximum Power Point Tracking or MPPT charge controllers are the most efficient controllers available for your wind and solar panels. The use of MPPT charge controllers allows more power production over time by allowing higher voltage input to be reconfigured to a more efficient charging algorithm. One of the advantages of the use of this type of controller is that solar panels can be wired together in series or what is known as strings. The higher voltage allows higher levels of watt or power output to be carried through the same PV wire without running numerous runs or having to run heavier gauge wire as would be the case with numerous paralleled runs.

Most MPPT controller only support solar power and the Midnite Solar classic and some Morningstar support wind or hydro application. As well Hurricane uses it own boost MPPT proprietary wind control system on all Vector and XP wind Turbine models
