Ground Fault Protection Device – 150V
Model: GFPD‑150V
In stock supply is limited
Morningstar’s Ground Fault Protection Device (GFPD) family—models GFPD‑150V and GFPD‑600V—provides enhanced safety and design flexibility for both off‑grid and on‑grid photovoltaic (PV) systems. Ground fault protection prevents current from traveling along unintended paths during a fault condition. Detecting stray current and interrupting the circuit is essential to restoring safe operation.
A current imbalance between the primary PV conductors entering a charge controller or inverter may indicate a ground fault. Morningstar’s GFPD detects this imbalance and disconnects both the positive and negative legs. Breaking both poles ensures full interruption of the fault current.
The GFPD is designed for easy integration with Morningstar’s TriStar MPPT controllers, but it also works seamlessly with mixed‑vendor systems. Custom‑molded equipment‑ground terminals simplify installation and troubleshooting. Because the GFPD disconnects the entire PV array during a fault, no special battery‑enclosure labeling is required.
